Many of you may have probably seen or even participated in the recent ice bucket challenge to raise funding and awareness for ALS.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) aka Lou Gehrig's disease is a progressive degenerative disease that affects the motor nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control the function of the voluntary muscles of the body. When these nerves degenerate, the muscles they innervate and control can no longer function and they start to waste away and atrophy. The disease usually starts at the far ends of the body such as the limbs and progresses towards the middle, eventually affecting the lungs, causing death. Currently, ALS is not entirely understood yet new research is starting to understand the physiology behind the disease. There is no cure at this time. It is my goal to contribute whatever I can to progressing the research.
When I was in chiropractic school the dad of a dear friend of mine passed away from ALS. This cause is near and dear to my heart. Please help me in contributing as much as possible.
What I want: Calling all current and new practice members of Embodied Chiropractic & Family Wellness!
1) Accept the nomination/challenge - Grab a friend to record your video, fill a bucket with ice and water, dump it over your head and post the video to the Embodied Chiropractic Facebook page and/or tag Embodied Chiropractic. There is no need to nominate anyone else if you don't want.
2) Call the office, 413-475-0357, and schedule to come in to get your spine and nervous system checked. Every time you do between now and August 31st, I will donate $5 to the ALS research foundation.
3) HAVE FUN! It can be as simple as a 5 sec video or as elaborate and out of this world creative or silly.
Help me in raising awareness and as always, be well. Now for your entertainment:

"My son can shoot the ball further. Now he can actually hit the backboard from the free throw line where as playing basketball this year he couldn't do that. He couldn't do that not even 2 months ago-can't think of any other reason why except for the care he's received."
